The National Highways Sector Schemes, and NHSS30 for the Installation, Maintenance and Repair of Modular Paving – Seminar was held in June 2017 in the Training Suite of Southwark Council, Interlay’s Secretary Colin Nessfield was in attendance at the Seminar.

NHSS30 presented a free seminar, which included sessions on many aspects of National Highways Sector Schemes, their function and operation. With particular relevance to Highways Engineers, Specifiers and Contractors both large and small, the event had feature speakers who represented Certification Bodies, Skills and Certification, Contractor and Client side presentations.

National Highways Sector Scheme, NHSS30 – ‘The Quality Management of the Installation, Maintenance and Repair of Modular Paving’, seeks to improve the installed quality of all types of modular paving including Blocks, Pavers, Setts, Kerbs and Slabs in concrete, clay or natural stone by providing an industry benchmark, ensuring project processes are planned, use properly trained and competent installers. The scheme focused on continuous improvement, quality of installation and reduced ongoing costs for both the client and supplier.

The sessions hi-lighted the benefits of NHSS30 as well as Highways Sector Schemes in general; giving details of the training requirements for operatives and supervisors and necessary quality scheme activities for contractors large and small.

Further details of the National Highways Sector Scheme, NHSS30 will be published and made available on the Interlay website within the very near future.
