Find a Layer - Making the right choice

Block paved driveways can enhance the character and value of any property, but homeowners should not fall into the trap of thinking nothing can go wrong with these 'small' areas of paving.  Although not as substantial as car parks or town centres, the installation of residential driveways and patios demands the same specialist skill and expertise as any other block paved area.

The fruits of unskilled and unscrupulous installers can be disruptive, costly and upsetting, which is why it is well worth seeking out your local Interlay member for peace of mind and to protect your investment.  Forget the itinerant with his mobile phone - he won't be around to pick up the pieces when things fall apart. Most importantly - if a company claims to be part of an approved body - always check that they are before you agree to anything.

  • Make sure there is an office telephone number and not just a mobile number.
  • If they claim they are a member of Interlay, on a Manufacturer's register or on the DTI Quality Scheme - CHECK!
  • Check the Interlay Members List for current members and known False Claimaints of membership.
  • Ask for reference jobs in your area  - go and take a look.
  • Ask how long they have been in business.
  • Ask for a written quotation - don't be afraid to ask questions about what they are doing.
  • Get a written warranty. Make sure that you have a written contract that covers and describes the full scope of the work.
