New rules for paving around the home: do you know SUDS? If you don't, then you don't know paving...

This guide, produced on behalf of Interpave, explains how you can make the most of sustainable paving around your home to satisfy the rules and still create a beautiful garden with the paving essential to make the most of it.

It also aims to help planners, surveyors, conveyancing lawyers, designers, contractors and landscapers understand the impact of the latest regulations , as discussed on page 4.

When you are planning a new driveway, patio or path for your garden, you probably don’t think about where the rainwater landing on it will end up. Paving for Rain

But taking a responsible approach to drainage is important to help in the fight against flooding and pollution – and also to meet new rules, which could otherwise result in action by your local authority or make selling your home more difficult.

This document, and many more, can be downloaded for free from the Interpave website. Just click on the image for a shortcut to this document.

Why not share the information with your friends and neighbours to ensure that everyone has been made aware of these regulations. If you'd like any advice, please contact the Interlay office.

Thinking about making changes to your property? Got a paving installer in mind? Don't make the mistake of not checking their credentials first...

Interlay is the only independent association of paving contractors dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest professional standards.

When you're considering the transformation of your driveway or patio, be sure to do some research before signing on the dotted line.

Too many people all over the country are being misled by contractors who make promises but then fail to deliver them. Our advice to you is to check their credentials (i.e. membership to authentic regulatory bodies, such as Interlay, Checkatrade, etc) and if in doubt, contact those organisations for further information.

A member of Interlay will be able to provide you with their up-to-date Membership Certificate and examples of their previous works. Individual companies may even provide details of addresses they have worked on so you can see the finished job first hand.

In accordance with the Interlay Code of Practice, our Members will supply you with a fully itemised written quote and a contract. These pieces of documentation will provide support to both you and the contractor should an issue arise.

Why not take a look around our site to find out more. We have a section of Frequently Asked Questions and a page of Useful Links. If you just need help with finding a reputatable paving installer then why not check out our Members List and the Find a Layer search facility?
